Irina is a founding member of Prague based physical theatre company Teatr Novogo Fronta. This theatre was established in 1993 in St. Petersburg, Russia. Performances of the Teatr Novogo Fronta are constructed from images, which stand on the frontier between mysticism and abstraction, circus art and modern dance, where the main force is the action, improvisation and tension amplified by the ridiculousness of human tragedy.
This amazing theatre company has traveled throughout the world winning awards and inviting international performers to join their company. Through this portrait, we capture Irina through interviews and preparing for the premiere of her in solo performance in “Dybbuk”. We filmed the premiere of Dybbuk. Her performance in this piece has been described; “Irina Andreeva was a supernatural sight in Dybbuk...explosive...a spirit taking gleeful possession of another body”.
